Fowler Welch Transport Operator Apprentice - Teynham

Fowler Welch, a UK supply chain and logistics expert specialising in flexible, reliable and cost effective supply chain services for major names in both supply and retail, has an exciting opportunity for a Transport Operator Apprentice to join their team in Teynham!

Working in partnership with The Real Apprenticeship Company, we are looking for a dedicated individual with a drive to succeed, so this could be the role for you. The Scheme is open to any individual who is looking to be developed into a highly skilled Logistics/Transport Professional.

What will I be doing?

As an Apprentice you will undertake a comprehensive modular training program for a minimum of 12 months.You will be learning about how to plan the effective utilisation of drivers, vehicles, sub-contractors and agencies to ensure that the products are collected from our suppliers and delivered to our customers in full, on time and safely; you will learn about Drivers’ hours, Tachograph and Working Time legislation and you will learn about ensuring that our vehicles are legally compliant and that all relevant information is recorded correctly.

On successful completion of the 12 month training programme you will have achieved a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification in Supply Chain Operator (Traffic Office) and will have secured a full time permanent Transport Operator position.

You will need to have:

·Ability to use your Initiative

·Excellent planning and organisational skills

·An adaptable and flexible approach to work

·Effective written and verbal communication skills

·Good team-working skills

·Thoroughness/attention to detail

·Computer literacy – proficiency in Word and Excel

·An appreciation of Customer Service

It would be beneficial if you have:

·Experience of working within transport and/or logistics environment

What Training will I be given?

Over a 12 month period, you will be learning through different methods – on-the-job practical training; classroom style learning and work-shadowing colleagues - towards achieving a nationally recognised Level 2 Supply Chain Operator - Traffic Office Apprenticeship.

Functional skills in Mathematics and English will be provided if required.

What will I receive financially?

As a Transport Operator Apprentice you will be paid a competitive market rate each month progressing through a pay structure so on successful completion of the Level 2 Apprenticeship Scheme you will transfer onto the Depot’s appropriate Transport Operator rate.
